The mainly less-than-truckload carrier ABF Freight has announced an increase in general rates and charges effective Nov. 3.

Rates will increase by about 5.4%, although the effect on specific lanes and shipments will vary, according to the company. New rates will be available to customers on the company website on or before the date they take effect.

Rival Con-way hiked rates an average of 5.4% on Monday for non-contract customers, while the LTL operations of FedEx and UPS will raise rates 4.9% on Jan. 5 and Dec. 29, respectively. All are among the nation’s largest LTL operations.
