Drivers traveling on Interstate 35W in Bloomington and Burnsville, Minn. will encounter detours in both directions from 10 p.m. Friday, July 18 through 5 a.m. Monday, July 21, weather permitting.

Southbound I-35W will be closed from 94th Street to I-494. Northbound I-35W will be closed between 94th Street and the I-35W/I-35E split.

The closures are needed as crews demolish the 94th Street bridge deck over I-35W, according to the Minnesota Transportation Department.

Drivers traveling southbound on I-35W will be detoured to eastbound I-494, southbound Highway 77 and southbound I-35E. Northbound I-35W traffic will be detoured to northbound I-35E, northbound Highway 77 and westbound I-494.

There will be one additional weekend closure of I-35W through mid-October.

The northbound I-35W ramps to and from 94th Street in Bloomington will close July 27 at 10 p.m. The ramps will remain closed through early September for reconstruction.

Drivers intending to access 94th Street from northbound I-35W will be detoured to the 90th Street exit. Detour signs will be posted.

The southbound ramps to and from 94th Street also will close for five weeks during construction. A closure date for the southbound ramps will be announced when it is determined.
