Truckload carrier Schneider National has created 75 new jobs for professional truck drivers looking to transport some unique freight.

They will be hauling motorcycle manufacturer Harley-Davidson’s engines and parts from Missouri, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania to various points around the United States.

The Wisconsin-based carrier is hiring experienced drivers in Kansas City, Mo., Menomonee Falls, Wis., and York, Penn., to support its new business with Harley-Davidson. To kick-start the hiring process, the company is offering sign-on bonuses of $7,000 for teams and $3,500 for solo drivers.

“Our team drivers can expect to average 5,000 to 6,000 miles per week, which can equate to $80,000 per year,” said Rob Reich, Schneider’s vice president. “Those who drive solo will run about 2,800 miles a week and earn up to $66,000 a year.”

He said drivers on this dedicated account will work predictable schedules and enjoy weekly home time.

Schneider wins United Parcel looses that is the rest of the story.

They are not creating new jobs. They paying driver less money to do the same job UPS driver were doing.

New jobs, I don't think so. This was a great job but now it pays substandard wages,no holidays , and instead of hub miles the driver gets paid zipcode to zipcode.I would also like to say that a great job doesn't need a sign on bonus.

Big companys like Schneider, J.B. Hunt etc. always underbid rates of other companies, to get the best freight. They take good paying jobs from other carriers, bid way lower rates, then pay their own drivers less than fairly. It's nothing more then robbing peter to pay paul.
