UPDATED -- A longtime executive with Missouri-based fleet Prime died on Tuesday, according to the website of the Springfield News-Leader.

John Hancock was reportedly found dead at an undisclosed location from a self-inflicted gun-shot wound. There is no indication if the would was accidental or not.

Hancock was director of driver training and recruiting at Prime, making him responsible for all aspects of the Missouri-based fleet’s driver recruiting efforts. His Linkedin.com profile shows he had been with the company since July 1986.

Clayton Brown, Prime spokesman, released a statement to Truckinginfo.com saying, “John Hancock was a valued member of Prime for over 25 years. During that time he impacted many lives locally, regionally and nationally. Prior to his passing John had left Prime to pursue other interests. The news of John’s death has greatly impacted the Prime family. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and loved ones during this difficult time. Professional counseling has been offered to Prime associates to help cope with this news.”
