Landstar System Inc. officially broke ground on its new orientation center in Ft. Worth, Texas.

The new 12,000 square foot facility in Ft. Worth will be almost double the size of the current orientation center in Grand Prairie, with new and improved truck parking and more restrooms, work and dining space and computers for Landstar Business Capacity Owners. BCO is Landstar’s term for the independent contractors who provide Landstar with transportation capacity under exclusive lease arrangements.

There are 140 tractor-trailer parking spaces planned for the Ft. Worth center as compared to the 95 now available at Grand Prairie. Plus, there will be 28 bobtail spaces, twice as many as currently available. There will also be 150 spaces for cars.

While the new orientation center is less than two miles from the current site, the location is more easily accessible for trucks from Texas Highway 183, near Highway 360. Plans are to open the center in the second quarter of 2014.
