Old Dominion Freight Line Friday updated its expectations for growth in the second-quarter of the year.

It expects growth in tonnage per day to increase in a range of 5.0% to 5.5% compared to the second quarter of 2012, versus its previous expectation of an increase in a range of 4.5% to 5.0%.

In a release ODFL said supporting this increase are figures showing average tonnage per day increased at a rate of 5.7% for April and 5.8% for May, compared to the same months in 2012.

In addition, Old Dominion affirmed its expectation for an increase in revenue per hundredweight, excluding fuel surcharges, excluding fuel surcharges, in a range of 1.5% to 2.0% as compared to the second quarter of 2012.
