Late in September, Herb Schmidt retired from his position as the president of Conway Truckload, formerly CFI Inc.

Schmidt has worked in the industry for 25 years.

Schmidt was employed at UPS before he went to work for CFI Inc. in 1984. He worked his way up through the company over the years and was eventually named president in 2000.

He has also served on a number of associations including the Truckload Carriers Association Safety Council as president and the Professional Truck Driving Institute of American as chairman.

Saul Gonzalez will be taking over as president for Con-Way, and Schmidt will continue to serve the company as a consultant.
