The parking lots designated for trucks at Maryland's Welcome Center located off of Interstate 95 South are filled to overflowing, according to an article in the Baltimore Sun, but relief is on the way.

According to the article, truck drivers who are nearing the end of their allowed driving hours before they are required by federal regulations to take a break are having a lot of problems finding a place to park their truck.

To help combat this growing problem, the Maryland State Highway Administration will be expanding the number of trucking spaces at the Maryland Welcome Center off of I-95 South from 21 to 61 spaces.

The Maryland SHA recently received a $2.6 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation to help pay for the $8 million project. According to the paper, construction on the project is expected to begin in the spring of 2013 and will take approximately a year to complete.
