TravelCenters of America LLC has completed the installation of bulk Diesel Exhaust Fluid dispensers at 100 of its TA and Petro Stopping Center branded locations. These 100 locations offer DEF fueling at more than 400 fuel island lanes.
The company plans to have substantially all of its locations outfitted with on-island bulk DEF by the end of 2012.
Called the "1+1," dispensers pump both diesel fuel and DEF. Drivers can authorize diesel and DEF transactions at the same time and dispenser, simultaneously dispense both products and pay for both fills at the same time. The "1+1" dispenser also saves time because it eliminates the need for drivers to move their truck to accommodate both fills.
"We are completing DEF dispenser installations in accordance with our plans," says Tom O'Brien, president and CEO of TravelCenters. "We took time up front to research the product and dispensing process - we wanted to make sure we did it right. We waited for the most technologically advanced dispensing unit to come to market and invested in DEF tank installation away from the island to avoid visual obstructions and accidents at the island. We also executed underground installations of those tanks and related piping from tank to dispenser to properly protect the product from exposure to temperature extremes and minimize downtime that can be associated with alternate, above ground installations."
Professional drivers can see all TA and Petro sites carrying on-island DEF with the TruckSmart mobile app available as a free download from the Apple App Store and Android Playstore. Additionally, an updated map and listing can be viewed and downloaded here.
All TA and Petro Stopping Centers carry DEF in 2.5 gallon containers. RoadSquad emergency roadside assistance trucks also carry DEF in containers.
