Con-way Truckload has opened a driver orientation site in Phoenix. The company plans to hire more than 250 experienced professional truck drivers from several western states
, including Arizona, Nevada, California, New Mexico and Colorado, over the next 12 months.
The new site adds to Con-way Truckload's national network of 12 orientation sites and supports the company's customer base in that region of the country.
Every new Con-way Truckload hire must attend a five-day orientation program to complete the required paperwork and road test, learn about policies and procedures and take the Department of Transportation-mandated physical exam, among other activities.
The Phoenix orientation site will serve as the training ground for experienced drivers hired in the southwestern United States. Prior to establishment of the new location, drivers were required to travel to the closest existing sites in El Paso or Laredo, Texas.
