The 28th Annual Walcott Truckers Jamboree will be held next Thursday and Friday, July 12-13, at Iowa 80 Truckstop, I-80 Exit 284, Walcott, Iowa. Featured will be more than 200 exhibits, a super truck beauty contest, antique truck display,
Iowa pork chop cookout, Trucker's best friend pet contest, Trucker Olympics, carnival games, live bands, fireworks display and loads of fun for the whole family. Admission and parking are free and shuttles will be provided from the parking area.
"We have some truly exciting things happening at this year's Jamboree," says Delia Moon Meier, Iowa 80 Truckstop senior vice president. "We will be breaking ground for an expansion of our Iowa 80 Trucking Museum and giving away an International CXT pickup to one lucky truck driver on Friday the 13th."
The Walcott Truckers Jamboree began in 1979 featuring a few exhibits, live music, food and a small display of antique trucks. That first Jamboree only attracted a few hundred drivers, a far cry from the 30,000 it attracts today. Even though the size of the Jamboree has changed over the years, you can bet that its focus hasn't. Celebrating America's truckers is definitely what the Jamboree is all about, according to Delia Moon Meier. It is Iowa 80's way of thanking drivers for all of their hard work and dedication in hauling America's freight.
"We truly appreciate professional drivers and all they do to keep America moving. The Walcott Truckers Jamboree is our way of saying 'thank you' for delivering the goods we need," says Delia Moon Meier.
