CITGO Petroleum Corp. said its CITGARD 700 line now features two products designed specifically for high-performance diesel engines and meets API CJ-4 specifications.

The current synthetic blend product, originally introduced as CITGARD 700, is now sold under the new name of CITGARD 700 PLUS. This premium synthetic blend, offered in a 15W-40 viscosity grade, is designed for on-road and off-road power units operating under severe conditions.
Added to the line is a new CITGARD 700. Formulated with a selection of premium quality base stocks, this product meets the needs of most fleet owners.
"The stratification of the CITGARD 700 line is part of a continuing effort to offer CITGO customers the best opportunity to optimize overall operating and maintenance costs according to specific needs," said Mark Betner, heavy-duty products manager at CITGO Petroleum Corp.
Both products are designed to deliver optimum soot control, protection from higher operating temperatures and prolonged particulate filter life when combined with ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel (ULSD). In addition, they address specific features of 2007 engines, such as exhaust after-treatment diesel particulate filter systems. Despite this, CITGARD 700 PLUS and CITGARD 700 have been tested in pre-2007 power units with fuels as high as 4,000 ppm sulfur and have demonstrated superior performance versus premium CI-4 PLUS engine oils.
Products in the CITGARD 700 line are intended for use in heavy-duty service in commercial trucks, agricultural and construction equipment, stationary engines and other diesel fueled engine applications. Both products are available in bulk and drum packaging. One-gallon containers of CITGARD 700 are now available.
