Truck Show Latino, which runs the weekend of Oct. 21-22 at the Fairplex in Pomona, Calif., will be host to a Stars & Stripes truck competition, pitting beautifully decked-out big rigs against each other in several categories.

At last year’s show, the trucks were on display, drawing thousands of visitors to admire their shine and custom chrome exteriors. This year, some of the top working trucks from around the nation and Canada plan to compete for top bragging rights.
Southern California family-owned fleet, Sandvik Trucking, plans to bring five of their customized tractors, complete with intricate detailing and polished perfection.
Also participating are Stars & Stripes “regulars,” Jona and Randy Rebillard, full-time truckers leased to Ter-Mat Enterprises who hail from Gimli, Manitoba. They have received the Best of Show Working Bobtail trophy at multiple Stars & Stripes events with their flat-top Pete called “Tired Iron.”
Kentucky husband-and-wife team, Tommy and Kim Turner, leased to Southern Pride, will bring their multi-award winning Pete known as “El Dorado” – minus their impressive drop deck trailer – and compete as a bobtail for the first time.
Local talent with exceptional rigs who’ve made plans to attend include Ernie Vanegas, EVR Trucking from Moreno Valley; The Fimbres family, from Apple Valley; Hector Santos from Riverside; and newcomers Junior Perez and Joe Gomez.
Three main classes are planned for Working Bobtails, Specialized Trucks (such dump trucks, wreckers, sanitation trucks, etc.) and Classics from model years 1980 or older. All trucks can enter the Interior, Paint or Engine classes. A Waterford crystal and custom rosewood base “Best of Show” trophy will be awarded to the truck earning the most points in main, interior and engine classes.
Long-haul trucks that run fewer than 75,000 or local vocation trucks running fewer than 25,000 miles will compete separately in the Limited Mileage division. The overall winner of this division will receive a similar trophy.
All classes will be awarded to third place. Entries are still open. To get entry information, contact Diana Owens at (916) 786-3073, ext 10. Trucks must be on site Friday, Oct. 20, to register. Judging will take place Saturday and presentation of trophies will be on Sunday.
