Truck Show Latino is the nation’s only show produced for Latino fleet owners, company drivers and owner-operators. Its location in Southern California boasts the largest population of Latino truckers in the U.S., and the heaviest concentration of construction equipment in the world.
Last year’s first-ever Truck Show Latino attracted more than 140 exhibitors featuring new trucks, used trucks, parts, components and services, along with a driver recruitment center. Show producers will conduct another intensive survey of Latino attendees that will update research on the Latino truck market.
New attractions this year include a drawing for a Ford pickup truck to be given away at 3 p.m. Sunday, hourly prize drawings, a special Stars & Stripes truck beauty show and live entertainment Saturday afternoon.
The Stars & Stripes truck competition will feature more than two dozen dazzling and decked-out big rigs competing for trophies and prizes. Visitors to last year’s show at the Fairplex might remember seeing some of these show trucks on display, offering showgoers the opportunity to admire their shine and custom chrome exteriors up close and personal. This year, it's not a static display, but an exciting competition.
To date, 28 of the top working trucks from around the nation and Canada have signed up to compete for top bragging rights. Three main classes are planned for Working Bobtails, Specialized Trucks (such as dump trucks, wreckers, sanitation trucks, etc.) and Classics from model years 1980 or older. All trucks can enter the Interior, Paint or Engine classes.
Nationally, there are an estimated 1.9 million Latinos who hold commercial drivers licenses, and nearly 270,000 Latino owner-operators. A large percentage of the region’s drivers and owner-operators are in construction trucking.
Launched successfully last fall by Newport Communications Group and Independent Trade Show Management LLC, Truck Show Latino expands this year to include the Construction Truck & Equipment Expo, the result of a partnership agreement between those two organizations and the California Dump Truck Owners Association, sponsors of the construction truck expo. Newport Communications Group publishes Heavy Duty Trucking and RoadStar magazines. Independent Trade Show Management produces The Truck Show-Las Vegas.
