All Freight Systems Inc., a truckload carrier based in Kansas, is raising owner-operator pay to $1 per mile on Oct. 20. This pay raise, which represents a full 9 cent-per-mile increase over the
previous rate, is paid on all miles, loaded and empty, and includes a 100 percent fuel surcharge.
All Freight Systems has also recently raised its rates to its customers so that those on the percentage pay plan have realized a significant increase, as well.
Darrin Karley, vice president, says their decision to raise owner-operator pay was spurred by an increasing demand for capacity for All Freight’s customers. He explained, “Our current owner-operators were happy with our previous rate, but I think if we pay more, we will see more owner-operators give us a try. We’re ready to prove to them that All Freight Systems takes good care of its owner-operators.” Darrin also stressed that this increase did not involve “re-distributing” funds from other parts of their O-O pay package.
“We are flat-out increasing our mileage rate by 9 cents per mile. No strings attached,” he stated.
All Freight Systems pays for base plates, permits and bobtail insurance, and offers reimbursement for tolls encountered on company routes. All Freight Systems also offers weekly home time and 100 percent no-touch freight.
