Barr-Nunn Transportation says its Driver Advisory Council is a vital part of its culture, emphasizing the importance of including drivers in the decision-making processes of the company.

That’s why the fleet is in charge of nominating the Driver Advisory Council every four months. The council is made up of six company drivers and four owner-operators from within the company and helps provide valuable information to the company’s managers and president regarding everything from safety, pay and benefits, to happenings in the field.
“This program has become a major part of our culture,” said Doug Albrecht, director of marketing, and manager of the group. Anyone in the Barr-Nunn fleet has the opportunity to become a council member and provide feedback.
Since its inception in 1982, Barr-Nunn has been a leader in pay packages and has grown to a fleet of nearly 675 tractors, 1,800 trailers and more than 500 customers nationwide.
