Alliance Logistics, Midland, Mich., has recognized two transportation companies with a "Carrier of the Year" award and one rail transfer terminal with a "Terminal of the Year" award.

Factors for determining the winners included overall safety and service performance, error-free deliveries, self-reporting percentages and invoice accuracy. The companies selected included:

• A&R Transportation - Carrier of the Year (national)
• BWP Transport - Carrier of the Year (regional)
• Polymer Distribution Inc. - Terminal of the Year

Fred Post, vice president of Carrier Operations for Alliance, said, "Last year was difficult for many shippers in regards to capacity, but this group went above and beyond in coming up with creative solutions to keep product moving in spite of the many challenges the industry faced."
In addition to the Carrier of the Year awards, Alliance recognized TransMatic, Inc. as "Safe Carrier of the Year," having the lowest DOT reported driver out of service rating within the Alliance network. Other carriers recognized as a "Safe Carrier" for driver out of service levels below DOT averages for the bulk industry were:

• L&B Transport, L.L.C.
• Liquid Transport Corp.
• Northern Dry Bulk Inc.
• Oakley Trucking Inc.
• R&J Trucking Inc.
• Trimac Transportation Services Inc.
