GE and its Trailer Fleet Services business, a leading provider of trailer fleet management solutions, announced the conclusion of a six-week long sweepstakes to send a lucky winner to the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Torino, Italy
this month.
The grand prizewinner was selected in December 2005 from more than 1,000 entries from the trucking industry, and awarded to Andrew Mier of Swift Transportation, based in Phoenix. Entries for the "Stay Ahead of the Game" sweepstakes were gathered in the GE booth at the ATA's annual meeting in Boston last fall, in advertising promotions – including in Heavy Duty Trucking magazine – and online at the Trailer Fleet Services website from October to November 2005.
The Grand Prize includes a four-day trip for two to the Torino 2006 Olympic Winter Games, including air, hotel, hospitality and tickets to Olympic Games events.
"I was very excited to learn that I had won the trip to the Olympic Winter Games, " said Mier. "First, I have never won anything this exciting in my life and two, being an athlete myself by participating in marathon's, triathlon's and Ironman events, it will be awesome to see world class athletes participate in the various events."
The sweepstakes also included a second place prize of a commemorative Olympic Games pin - awarded to 100 second-place winners.
