Melton Truck Lines has announced a two-cent per mile pay increase for all drivers and contractors beginning Feb. 1. All company drivers and all owner-operators will receive the increase in compensation
that will be spread over a two-month period – February and March. These increases should give drivers an annual boost of approximately $2,400 per year. Once the rollout is complete in March, Melton’s top drivers will be making about 50 cpm, including tarp pay and the safety bonus. Drivers with just six-months OTR will be able to make 41 cpm.
Melton said 2005 was a good year for the company. Despite temperamental fuel prices, Melton equipment has been requested and moving all year long. Melton President Bob Peterson says, “I am always excited to announce pay increases because I know what it means to each of our drivers. We only hire the best and we expect a lot. Our drivers drive our success and we are glad we are able to show our appreciation with this 2-cpm compensation.”
In addition to the pay increase, Melton Truck Lines is also bringing in nearly 400 new trucks this year. These trucks will replace and add to Melton’s current fleet.
