The charitable arm of one of Northeast Wisconsin's largest employers has launched a two-tiered effort to help those impacted by the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.

The Schneider National Foundation has made an initial donation of $25,000 to the American Red Cross in support of relief efforts in the hurricane impacted states of Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama.
In addition, the foundation has established a special relief fund to assist the Schneider office, shop and driver associates impacted by the hurricane.
Current Schneider associates, company retirees and the public can contribute to the fund, with donations earmarked for purchase of basic relief items such as food, water, personal care items, general supplies and more during the coming weeks and months. The Schneider National Foundation will match contributions dollar for dollar up to an initial $40,000.
"The number of people impacted by this disaster is daunting, and their needs are so overwhelming," says LuEllen Oskey, administrator of the Schneider National Foundation. "Like so many people and organizations, we feel compelled to help out not only our own employee associates, but also their family, friends and neighbors in the impacted areas."
Individuals wanting to contribute to the Schneider Hurricane Katrina Associate Fund, with donations earmarked for Schneider employees in the impacted area, can send donations by Oct. 1, 2005 to:
