Mack Trucks Inc. announced it has decided not to hold the annual “Bulldog Roundup” community event in Hagerstown, Md., this year, due to major construction activity underway at the Pennsylvania Avenue facility.

“We have reluctantly concluded that given the current status of the facility’s construction and renovation project, it is not possible for us right now to host an event like the Bulldog Roundup, which involves several thousand visitors coming onto the plant site,” said Roger Johnston, vice president and general manager. “However, it is our intention to bring the event back next year – and make it even bigger and better in 2006.”
The Hagerstown facility is undergoing a transformation into the North American Center of Excellence for Volvo Powertrain, the largest diesel engine manufacturing organization in the world. Included in the $150 million multi-year construction project are a complete renovation of the plant’s assembly areas and equipment, and a state-of-the-art engine development laboratory.
