Schneider Logistics Inc., an international lead logistics provider and part of the Schneider National enterprise, has completed the acquisition of American Port Services, a provider of port transloading/deconsolidation, warehousing and distribution services.

By linking the resources of the nation's largest full truckload provider with American Port Services' transloading and port dray operation, Schneider is the first national truckload provider to offer port-to-door import logistics service. Terms of the transaction are not being disclosed.
"Our relationship with American Port Services complements our existing transportation and logistics capabilities with port-based logistics and freight management services," said Tom Escott, president of Schneider Logistics.
"With more than 4 million square feet of warehousing space and a strong presence at all major U.S. ports, Schneider National can now seamlessly move clients' cargo across major modes of transportation."
"Schneider Logistics' acquisition of American Port Services is indicative of a larger trend occurring in the industry – the consolidation of several portions of the end-to-end global trade process," said Adrian Gonzalez, director, logistics executive council at ARC Advisory Group, a leading market research and consulting firm serving global clients in manufacturing, logistics and technology. "The addition of American Port Services enables Schneider to provide clients with an even wider range of services that ultimately translates into lower costs, shorter cycle times and improved flexibility."
Based in Savannah, Ga., American Port Services will retain its name and conduct business as a wholly owned subsidiary of Schneider Logistics.
