Swift Transportation Co. Inc., Phoenix, Ariz., announced Monday that Robert Cunningham has taken up day-to-day duties as president and chief operating officer. Cunninghamg's appointment was announced in November.
Swift founder Jerry Moyes remains chairman and chief executive officer.
The company also announced that Glynis Bryan has been named executive vice president and CFO. Also appointed are Samuel Cowley as executive vice president and general counsel and Karen Rasmussen as a member of the board of directors.
Bryan, who will assume her Swift position this month, currently serves as CFO of APL Logistics Services. She has over 20 years’ experience in the transportation industry, including over 16 years with Ryder Systems Inc.
Cowley, who will assume his Swift position immediately, recently was a partner with the law firm Snell & Wilmer. He has practiced law for over 17 years with a concentration in securities regulation, corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions.
Rasmussen’s appointment increases the total of independent directors on Swift's board to seven. She is president and CEO of the Arizona Trucking Association. Rasmussen has represented the trucking industry for more than two decades on issues including homeland security, safety and the environment.
