Prime Inc., Springfield, Mo., has announced an initiative to create a new fleet of company drivers within their flatbed division.

Previously drivers could work for Prime’s flatbed freight network only as an independent contractor.
The company driver program features an aggressive pay scale and many additional pay incentives like vacation pay, a fuel bonus and a layover policy. Earlier this month, Prime also introduced an updated pay structure for experienced drivers entering Prime's refrigerated division. Both programs reward drivers based on their number of years driving and gives experienced drivers credit for mileage driven regarding starting and future pay increases. Both programs have created incentives for company drivers to practice safe and efficient driving techniques. Opportunities also exist for company drivers to work as driver trainers for additional compensation.
According to Robert Low, founder and president of Prime Inc., the new program is another example of the company’s focus on its drivers.
