Authorities in Illinois plan to be dogging truckers who divert to Route 41 to avoid increased tolls on the Tri-State Tollway.
On Tuesday, the Beacon-News of Aurora, Ill., said that state Sen. Susan Garrett, D-Lake Forest, recently formed a task force to look into the increase in truck traffic. Garrett said she will introduce legislation to restrict trucks to the right lane on state highways with residential intersections.
The senator also said the Illinois State Police will increase patrols on Route 41, which will also be equipped with message boards to remind motorists they can call *999 on their cell phones to report problems.
