Yellow Roadway Corp., Overland Park, Kan., announced yesterday that Roadway Express and Yellow Transportation had seen the highest revenue and operating income ever
in 2004.
In its first full year as an operating entity, Yellow Roadway reported operating revenue of $6.77 billion and an adjusted operating income of $357 million. The company reported 2004 adjusted earnings per share of $3.96 with $1.24 per share in the fourth quarter. The company reported fourth quarter operating revenue of $1.77 billion compared to fourth quarter 2003 revenue of $903 million.
Results for the quarter and full year 2003 provided above include the former Yellow Corporation entities for the entire periods and Roadway Express and New Penn Motor Express results for the period December 12 through December 31.

Roadway Express
* Revenue of $822 million, up 12.5% from last year's comparable fourth quarter,
* Adjusted operating income of $53 million with an adjusted operating ratio of 93.5%
Yellow Transportation
* Record fourth quarter revenue and operating income
* Adjusted operating ratio of 93.5%, the best fourth quarter operating ratio since 1983
New Penn Motor Express Operating ratio of 87.5%.
Meridian IQ (Yellow Roadway’s logistics management unit)
* Revenue increase of 44%, resulting from organic growth and acquisitions
* Adjusted operating income of $1.5 million, up 46%
