The Ohio Turnpike Commission announced that its collective bargaining contract negotiations with International Brotherhood of Teamsters Union Local 436 ended
earlier this week without a settlement.
The union indicated it would take the last offer received from the commission back to its members for a vote.
The union representing 997 full-time and part-time toll collectors and maintenance workers previously notified the commission of its intent to strike at 12:01 a.m. Monday.
The commission has already authorized flat toll rates if workers strike, a plan the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission used with success when its workers struck last November.
The commission recommends that users visit their web site at www.ohioturnpike.org for further updates. Customers with additional questions or those without Internet access should call the commission’s administrative offices at (440) 234-2081.
