The Aberdeen American News of Aberdeen, S.D., reports that the Eastern Dakota Expressway is becoming a reality.

The expansion of one large section was recently completed and another is expected to be done by the end of the week.
The six-mile stretch of U.S. Highway 12 between Webster and Rush Lake will achieve four-lane status by today. The 20-mile section from Andover to Webster was opened Friday.
The South Dakota Department of Transportation project to transform the two-lane road into a four-lane superhighway between Aberdeen and Interstate 29 is expected to cost more than $49 million.
"Truckers didn't like the road before because of the passing situation,” said Harvey Michlitsch, engineering supervisor for the DOT in Aberdeen. ”Hopefully this will open doors for Aberdeen."
