North American Van Lines recently recognized 20-year company driver Harold "Buddy" Harvey as 2003 Van Operator of the Year.

Harvey was selected from 11 finalists out of nearly 6,000 drivers in the van line’s fleet.
The Round Lake Beach, Ill. resident works for Koldon Moving and Storage in Lake Zurich, Ill. In the past two decades, he has driven almost 900,000 miles and recently earned a 14-year safe-driving award. Since March 2002, Harvey has been a Customer Choice Quality Driver, which means customers have consistently rated his performance as "excellent" on quality surveys.
"Our van operators are in front of our customers daily," said Dan Robertson, general manager of North American Van Lines and Global Van Lines, subsidiaries of SIRVA, Inc. "Buddy’s record shows his enthusiasm and dedication to that commitment."
North American Van Lines uses a rigorous method to assess eligible drivers for the award in several areas, including safety performance and individual quality scores, which are based on quality review surveys performed by independent research teams that survey customers of each van operator.
Safety performance is measured with a scale of safety standards operators must meet, including no preventable accidents and no major or minor traffic accidents. The Van Operator of the Month with the best overall score is chosen as the Van Operator of the Year.
Harvey’s award included a plaque, a ring, an all-expenses-paid trip to the North American Van Lines Annual Convention in Las Vegas, a $1,500 savings bond and a jacket and truck decals noting his achievement.
North American Van Lines, with headquarters in Fort Wayne, Ind., has provided transportation services since 1933.
