Overnite Transportation Co., one of the nation's leading less-than-truckload carriers, has implemented a series of new, faster transit times originating from Springfield, Mo.
The new standards, which are now in effect, impact a wide service area east of the Mississippi River. In all, Overnite has reduced transit times from the southwestern Missouri city on 50 lanes.
Overnite's Springfield location now provides two-day service to all of South Carolina and Michigan's lower peninsula. Shipments destined for Maryland, New Jersey, New York and all major markets in New England now fall under Overnite's expanded three-day delivery umbrella. In addition, Overnite also reduced transit times to select markets including Appleton, Wis., Miami and Philadelphia.
Overnite operates five service centers in Missouri, including its facilities in Columbia, Rolla, Sikeston, Springfield and St. Louis, one of its key Midwest hubs.
