Steven "Scooby" and Karen Schoonover have been recognized as Contractors of the Year at Dart Transit Co.'s Dallas, Texas, Operating Center.
The Schoonovers began the year as a husband-wife team on Dart's national fleet, and then moved to the Lancaster city fleet.
The couple received a marble trophy and leather jackets as mementos of their achievement and a bonus check for $1,000 check.
Dart recognizes independent contractors with its Contractor of the Month and Contractor of the Year program, and with an extensive safety awards program. Over the years, Dart has presented nearly 500 awards for achieving accident-free production levels.
Dart operates with 2,200 independent owner-operators, with contracts options that include dedicated, national, regional and local operation.
