After a brief period of one-lane traffic on I-70 Wednesday morning, all lanes of I-70 were closed once again for travel in both directions at milepost 180.5, just east of the East Vail Exit.

The lanes on the eastbound portion were shut down Wednesday morning due to safety concerns regarding the stability of the roadway. There is no estimated time for reopening. Passenger cars are being detoured around the closure via U.S. 24 (Tennessee Pass) and SH 91 (Fremont Pass). Due to expected heavy traffic loads across these two passes, CDOT is encouraging semi-trucks to utilize U.S. Hwy 40 to the north of I-70, or U.S. Hwy. 50 to the south as alternate routes.
