Navajo Shippers, Commerce City, Colo., has announced the purchase of Leprino Transportation Co., a division of Leprino Foods.

Don Digby Sr., chairman of the board for Navajo Shippers, said, "We are very happy to complete the acquisition of Leprino Transportation. We believe that this acquisition will further solidify Navajo Shippers as the premiere truckload carrier in the Rocky Mountain Region, and increase our market place nationwide."
Digby said Navajo Shippers was already Colorado's largest truckload carrier, with 850 employees, 750 tractors and 1,200 trailers. With the addition of Leprino, Navajo will grow to more than 1,100 employees, 1,000 trucks, and 1,600 trailers.
In conjunction with the acquisition Digby also announced the formation of a new division -- Digby Refrigerated -- which will combine the current Leprino Transportation operations with elements of Navajo Shippers.
Navajo Shippers serves the continental U.S. with terminals in Kent, Wash., Boise, Idaho, Modesto, Calif., Phoenix, Ariz., Roswell, N.M., Commerce City, Colo., Russellville, Ark., Perkins, Okla., Columbus, Ohio, Hebron, Ky., and a separate logistics division in Fairfield, N.J. With the Leprino purchase they will expand their operations with terminals in Modesto, Calif. and Roswell, N.M.
