Oklahoma officials are recommending increased speed limits on the Kilpatrick and Creek turnpikes.

If approved by the public safety commissioner, as expected, speed limits would be raised from 65 to 70 mph on the Kilpatrick. In addition, a 4-mile section of the Creek from the Turner Turnpike entrance east to U.S. 75 in Tulsa would increase from 65 mph to 75 mph. The new limits would be the same for all vehicles.
The change was requested by turnpike customers, who would like the turnpike’s speed limit to match those on nearby turnpikes and interstates.
Speed limits will not change until new signs are posted.
In addition, the final extension of the Creek Turnpike has opened for traffic, connecting the Will Rogers Turnpike with the Muskogee Turnpike and making a virtual half-circle around south Tulsa.
