Overnite Transportation is the latest LTL to announce a rate increase.
Effective July 1, the Richmond, Va.-based carrier implemented a general rate increase of approximately 5.9 percent on all non-contractual U.S. and Canadian rates.
Senior Vice President-Chief Financial Officer Pat Hanley said that while the broad increase will be 5.9 percent, specific lane and regional adjustments will assure customers that Overnite will remain very competitive in the regional markets.
Hanley noted, "We are no different than any other company in the trucking sector fighting an uphill battle for an adequate return on investments amidst skyrocketing costs for health care, pension and insurance liability.”
