New Penn Motor Express, a subsidiary of Roadway Corp., has completed renovation and expansion of its terminal facility in Reading, Pa.

The expanded facility has a total of 68 dock doors and more than 17,500 square feet of dock space, increasing New Penn's freight handling capacity by more than 60 percent. The multi-million dollar project also involved renovation and expansion of the office and driver facilities, which now occupy 5,000 square feet. There is also a 4,200 square foot maintenance facility on the premises.
New Penn acquired 8 acres to support the expansion and to provide for additional equipment and employee parking. The facility, located at 3725 Pottsville Pike, now occupies a total of 14 acres in Muhlenburg Township. New Penn employs over 100 people at this location and has been operating at this site since 1985.
New Penn Motor Express is a regional, next-day ground less-than-truckload carrier serving 12 states in the Northeastern United States, Quebec, Canada and Puerto Rico.
