A planned toll increase for Delaware River bridges has been delayed at least four months.

According to published reports, the toll hike won’t take effect until at least late November, rather than the end of July as originally planned.
The delay is because the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission rejected a bid from Transcore to implement E-ZPass on the seven toll bridges. Transcore could not commit to having the electronic toll collection system in at least one toll lane per bridge by July 31. The new toll rates approved in December are tied to the implementation of the E-ZPass system.
When implemented, tolls will more than quadruple for tractor-trailers crossing from New Jersey to Pennsylvania.
