The PrePass weigh station precertification system will be installed in 19 locations around Missouri.

The voluntary program allows trucks to bypass scales if a transponder on their truck shows their paperwork is valid and up to date. It also includes weigh-in-motion scales in the highway lanes so trucks with transponders can be weighed without pulling off the road.
Lt. Tim Hull, a spokesman for the Missouri Highway Patrol, told reporters that the system will alleviate long lines at weigh stations and the problem of trucks merging back into highway traffic safely.
PrePass started in California in 1995 and is now in use in 23 states with nearly 200,000 trucks participating.
