Starting today, Oct. 10, the Oregon Department of Transportation is imposing weight restrictions on two westbound bridges on Interstate 84 in Hood River and Multnomah counties.

One bridge is located above Union Pacific Railroad tracks in downtown Hood River. The other crosses the Sandy River just east of Troutdale.
The weight limits will affect heavy trucks with axle weights above 20,000 pounds for single axles, over 34,000 pounds for tandem axles, and trucks with a total weight over 105,500 pounds.
The detour route is Oregon 35 at Hood River, south to U.S. 26 at Mt. Hood, then west on U.S. 26.
Recent inspections have revealed cracks in the horizontal concrete beams that support the bridges. Temporary repairs are expected to be finished by next April.
