Truckers traveling I-91in Connecticut got a free lunch Tuesday.

The free lunch at the Wallingford rest area, in honor of National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, has been offered for several years, according to The Hartford Courant. Truckers got all the grilled hot dogs and hamburgers they could eat, plus coffee, soda and slices of watermelon.
More than 200 truckers stopped, despite the state Department of Motor Vehicle truck inspectors hanging out by the grill.
"No one ever says thanks to these people for anything, so that's why we're here," said Michael Riley, president of the Motor Vehicle Transport Assn. of Connecticut, which coordinated and paid for the event.
National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, sponsored by the American Trucking Associations, runs through Saturday, Sept. 1.
