Trucks over 80,000 pounds will be prohibited from the Highway 126 bridge over the Crooked River in Prineville, Ore., as of Sept. 4.

Recent inspections have revealed shear cracks in the concrete girders of the bridge, which lessen the load-carrying capacity of the bridge. From Sept. 4 until repairs are complete, trucks over 80,000 pounds will have to detour.
The detour route, Highway 97 to Madras and Highway 26 to Prineville, adds 32 miles to the route. The junction of Highway 25 and 97 has been improved to allow safer turning for large trucks.
