Atlanta 285 Detours Switch To Northbound

Repaving on I-285 southbound in Atlanta is finished five weeks ahead of schedule.

Now the repaving - and the weekend closures of an 8-mile stretch of road that go with it - will switch to the northbound lanes this weekend. I-285 will be closed northbound between I-20 and I-675. Affected trucks will be allowed to use the normally forbidden I-20 during the weekend closures. Officials hope the work on this side will be done early, as well, but they're scheduling 11 weekends for the work.
Construction crews finished the repaving in just six weekends, thanks to good weather and not having to deal with traffic.
