Philadelphia's Schuylkill Expressway started round-the-clock construction lane closures Monday for the first time since 1989 - and it's a mess.

The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that traffic had to squeeze from two lanes into one lane westbound on the Schuylkill (I-76) at the Route 202 interchange.
Closures will continue through October on the $250 million, multiyear project.
This is the third year of PennDot's five-year project to widen Route 202 and remake the I-76-Route 202-Route 422 interchanges. The westbound lane is closed to allow workers to build piers to support a new Route 202 bridge.
