Two West Coast based less-than-truckload companies have announced rate increases.

Consolidated Freightways, Vancouver, Wash., announced that, effective Aug. 1, it will implement a general freight rate increase of approximately 5.1 percent. The company will also increase its absolute minimum shipment charge by $5 and certain accessorial charges by 5 percent.
"Carriers are faced with rising costs for insurance, wages, fuel and equipment," said Patrick Brady, CF senior vice president of sales and marketing. "This increase is designed to offset these costs."
Daylight Transport, Los Angeles, announced a general rate increase averaging 5.9 percent covering non-contractual shipments in the United States. The increase will go into effect Aug. 6.
Founded in 1977, Daylight Transport serves 40 states and three Canadian provinces.
