Two operating companies of FedEx Corp. have received "Carrier of the Year" awards from Wal-Mart.

FedEx Ground received the award in the small-package ground category. This marks the third consecutive year that the Pittsburgh-based operating company received this recognition from Wal-Mart.
American Freightways, based in Harrison, Ark., was selected as less-than-truckload Carrier of the Year. FedEx bought American Freightways earlier this year, and it's now a subsidiary of FedEx Freight, which also includes regional LTL Viking.
Wal-Mart's Carrier of the Year award is determined by performance in technology, percentage of accepted and rejected deliveries, on-time pickup and delivery, customer service, capacity, quality assurance, ease of doing business and
long-term commitment.
