Old Dominion Freight Line, a "super-regional" less-than-truckload carrier, has purchased equipment and service centers from Carter & Sons Freightways of Carrollton, Texas.

Effective Feb.12, Old Dominion will combine Carter's 23 terminal operations and their entire route structure into Old Dominion's network of 105 service centers.
Old Dominion plans to employ as many of Carter & Sons' employees as possible.
The purchase will expand Old Dominion's full-state coverage from 21 states to 23, with the addition of Texas and Oklahoma. Operations will be strengthened in the company's South Central and Midwest regions.
