The Virginia Department of Transportation is shutting down lanes on I-95 near the Springfield Interchange this week as an extensive reconstruction project continues on what has become known as the "Mixing Bowl."
On the northbound side of I-95, one lane will be closed between Exit 169 and the Commerce Street Bridge, and one lane will be closed from Commerce Street Bridge to the Franconia-Springfield Parkway for bridge construction.
On the southbound side, two left lanes will be shut down between I-495 and the Franconia-Springfield Parkway for bridge work and demolition.
