City commissioners from an Atlanta suburb voted unanimously to reject plans for a 100-bay truck terminal earlier this week.

According to the Atlanta Journal and Constitution, company officials from AAA Cooper Transportation appeared before the Buford City Commission seeking a special use permit to locate a trucking terminal on 27 acres near Lake Lanier.
Homeowners who live near the area complained that the company's rigs would turn their quiet street into a noisy danger zone. With backing from some Hall County officials and at least three area legislators, they also argued that the terminal would choke traffic and pollute Big Creek and Lake Lanier.
Residents opposing the terminal also contended that it would destroy home values in the area.
City officials say they still want the company to locate to the area and will work hard to get them in an area that won't offend anybody.
Robert Holman, AAA Cooper's director of property, said the area is destined to become an industrial corridor.
"The traffic that we're going to generate is not as great as what could potentially be there," he told the paper.
AAA Cooper, based in Dothan, Ala., has operated a truck terminal on the south side of Atlanta for 10 years. Company officials say they have been looking for a north metro location for two years.
