The Virginia Department of Transportation is shutting down lanes on I-95 near the Springfield Interchange this week for an extensive reconstruction project on what is known as the "Mixing Bowl."

One lane will be closed on the northbound side of I-95 from Exit 169 to Commerce Street Bridge, which is under construction, while two lanes will be shut down from Route 644 to the bridge as well.
On I-95’s southbound side, one lane will be closed on the stretch from the Commerce Street Bridge to the Franconia-Springfield Parkway, along with the two left I-95 southbound lanes between I-495 and Route 644 for bridgework and steel erection.
