Reacting to trucker complaints about long waits and slow turnaround times, at least two intermodal terminals in New Jersey are working on improving the flow of trucks in and out of their facilities.

In Elizabeth, NJ, Maersk Sealand has added an extra lane for incoming trucks and is considering a second. It's also adding manpower at the gates, beginning at 6 a.m.
The carrier agreed last fall to expand its gate hours through lunchtime. Other possible changes include staying open until 6 p.m.
In Jersey City, NJ, Global Terminal & Container Services opened two new gates to serve truckers coming into the terminal to pick up containers. The "bobtail" gates will be open from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Global is also reviewing its regular gate hours for possible extension.
